ASOA Appoints Eileen Giaimo as New Executive Director

Fairfax, VA – The Board of Directors of the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA) today announced the appointment of Eileen Giaimo of Burke, VA, as the new ASOA Executive Director.

“On behalf of the board of directors, I am extremely pleased to announce the appointment of Eileen Giaimo as the new Executive Director of ASOA. Ms. Giaimo assumes her post on September 1, and she and the current Executive Director, Lucy Santiago, will work together for a smooth transition that will culminate at the April 2005 ASOA Congress in Washington, DC,” said ASOA President Steve Robinson, of Professional Eye Associates in Dalton, GA.

“We feel very fortunate to have found someone with Ms. Giaimo’s background and experience. Over the past 18 years, Lucy Santiago has been very successful in building an organization that has become invaluable to ophthalmic administrators in many areas. We are excited to have secured the services of someone with Ms. Giaimo’s experience for the continued growth and progress of ASOA and look forward with great anticipation to the continuance of outstanding service to the field of ophthalmic administration,” Robinson said.

Ms. Giaimo comes to the ASOA from the American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery in Alexandria, VA, where she was Director of Economic Affairs for Practice Management. She previously served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Medical Service Corps and has more than 10 years experience in clinical practice management, coding and reimbursement, policy analysis, and consultation with physician practices.

Upon her appointment, Ms. Giaimo said, “I look forward to joining ASOA in its effort to lead the development of programs designed to enhance the skills and professionalism of ophthalmic practice administrators.”
